about the Piano Lesson - Our first project

In Trailblazers first investment, the Broadway revival of August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play "The Piano Lesson," production has received significant acclaim and recognition. Featuring a star-studded cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Danielle Brooks, and John David Washington, this revival has been celebrated with multiple nominations across various prestigious award categories.

In the Drama League Awards, we were thrilled to receive three nominations: Danielle Brooks and John David Washington for the Distinguished Performance Award, and our production for the Outstanding Revival of a Play. Meanwhile, the Outer Critics Circle honored us with two nominations: Danielle Brooks and Michael Potts for Outstanding Featured Performer in a Broadway Play.

Our success didn't stop there. The Drama Desk Awards saw us receiving five nominations: Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play for Danielle Brooks and Ray Fisher, Outstanding Lighting Design of a Play for Japhy Weideman, and Outstanding Wig and Hair for Cookie Jordan.

We are particularly proud of John David Washington's recognition with the 2023 Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performance. Such recognition validates the collective effort of our cast and crew in bringing this outstanding production to life.
